Excellent work! Glad to see that progress is being made - yes, a bit unnerving to see her so naked, but at least you know that everything is being carefully checked and repaired!

Awesome, look forward to seeing her at the park-off!

Yes, gonna detail her once everything is completed, it wont be before the Park Off. (after the 60 000km service, refitting of sound system in the boot and the Performance steering wheel)
Need it done before the car show on 26/27 Nov at the Goodhope Centre.

Gonna try do the sound install on Sat 29 Oct.

They took off the rear fender on Saturday. This pic was taken on Saturday when they were closing:

Just got back from the panelbeater. They've decided to rather replace the rear fender (Item No 3 in pic) for the full side panel (Item No 1). Cos the original (Item 2) part is cracked on the inner side, between the upper door hinge and the A pillar.

The Part is coming from Germany, which will take 2 weeks to get here. So the car will be standing for 2 weeks. They cant do anything else until its here, they've done what they can.

I wont have the car for the Park Off

This thread wont be updated until that part arrives.

Interesting.

Are panels 3 seperate from part 2...And does it get welded...or is the "two" actually one panel from the factory?

its better that way i think looks like they would otherwise have to weld 1&2 together... with replacing the whole panel it will be how it came from the factory...

i think its worth the wait :)

You can just cut out any section or piece out of another car, it just gets welded in, and then smoothed over with filler.

So you could either replace 3 if the damage was just in the rear quarter, or as in this case 1...

1 is of course a lot more difficualt, as you loose the structural integrety of the roof, Looks like your guys have the right tools and looks like they know what they are doing...

Sucks that the part has to come from germany, trust me there are no second hand in jhb... i tried :)

have you ever been inside a car factory?
i was once in the ford factory in silverton, what you see is scary, especially the time that they spend putting a car together.if not mistaken they produce 379 cars in a 8 hour shift
