Car Accident E36 Cab

Hi guys,

I thought I might as well write this up and give a few people a laugh for the day, cos I can't laugh about it.

Last year April I had my radiator replaced (R3000) later at a company in Goodwood. In August last year I got side swiped by a lady and got the car fixed at a company in Stikland (R38,000) later.

So last week I thought I had a starter related problem, turns out that the fan attached to the engine had been hitting my thermostat pipe which was making that terrible noise. As a result 3 of the 13 blades on the engine fan have broken off. The thermostat housing had been secured with cable tires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So on Monday I had the car collected by the Stikland company (they fixed the car after the car crash) they said I need a new fan and a new fan coul and that the radiator had never been mounted, no rubber and no brackets, I then phoned the company in Goodwood and relayed what I had been told. After he was aggressive I said look just go take a look and then you tell me if you did the job correctly.

So I am sitting with the situation of Party A blaming Party B and vice versa.

What does one do in this situation, I don't feel it is right that I carry the costs for bad workmanship.

Suggestions?

Shot Guys!

Kind Regards,

Joh!!! R 3000,00 for a radiator? That's plenty moola dude.

I have a similar experience, person A saying something, person B saying something else, and then person C sommer goois in his 2c for the fun of it.

I have this with my e36 engine rebuild.

Basically you will end up applying the KY to yourself.

Sorry

Try and get something out of them by bringing them together. If you don't succeed name and shame them on the internet. The internet is a powerful tool. Personally I Google any company that I have to spend big money with just to check what their reputation is. They will surely loose customers should you do that. I would also let them know what my intentions are in this regard. If damages are under R7000 you have the option of small claims court. Would not cost you a cent to my knowledge.

Thanks guys,

All your input is greatly appreciated. I actually have thought of small claims court, it is limited to R12000.00 , I didn't want to name the car companys here as I do not know the outcome. I don't think it would be fair for me to try damage a business name when things are still early days. I do however agree that the two parties should come to the table, if you use cable tires to secure a thermostat housing then you are looking for trouble!

A lesson here

Do not sign to release the car untill you are 100% sure the job was done right. If nescessary take a mech with you to inspect it or demand it pass an AA test before release (They are fairly thorough) and it'l only cost a couple hundred.

Once you have accepted the car the KY story kicks in.

12 month workmanship warranty? Radiator secured with only cable tire straps? No cowl clips, no mounting?
