Capable Boost level with standard DV`s

Turbo 1

New member
Has anyone tested this?
The software might have a target boost level of 18psi but actual boost never gets there due to leaking/bypassing DV`s. Am I correct or can they handle more than 1.0bar. Could that be the reason my car only gets to 1.0bar even though the software allows for more boost?
What actual boost is seen by the engine with stock plastic Dv`s.
Any input is welcome.

you should also look at changing the charpe pipe, at high booster levels they are known to pop clamps and break...

Mine started to leak around 13-14 psi.

Depends how old they are but the stock ones will never handle 18psi they are flimsy things.

Run logs and you will see when they start leaking.

You should be able to hit 18psi in the lower rpm's but after 5000 boost drops off quickly due to stock turbo's struggling in JHB's thin air. At 6000 you probably wont hold more than about 14psi and at 7000 this will drop to 10psi

Its not worth keeping the stock DVs & stock chargepipe when running high boost. (15psi +) They will eventually start to leak or blow off. Replace them as soon as you can.

Of course if you running stock boost then no need to swop them out.

Out the box they can handle 21psi for about a day :roflol:

If you planing to get serious change them. At the higher boost levels you might get requested boost but due to a leak be clocking the turbine shaft speed hence reducing the turbos life dramatically.
