Can you paint over the PDC sensors?

I am considering painting my black beading around the E46. I know it can be done and it looks neat if done correctly, but can you paint the PDC sensors as well?

I've seen people do it to theirs, but i hope those people are one of you guys and can answer me on this one.

Will it cause problems?

It would depend on the type of sensors used, if they are ultra-sonic you could paint them, but if they are infrared they would no longer work if painted, my money would be on that they are infrared, but this just my opinion.

E46 2003 320d. I painted mine and they still work perfect.

I'm not sure if certain models came out with thee IR sensors, I were under the impression BMW only brought out ultrasonic ones. I might stand corrected though.

I highly doubt any would be IR. You can paint them, just make sure the gap(ring) stays open.

Hellas, ek't jou kar gesien. Mine is also a 2003 and i've just checked RealOEM.com: they are ultrasonic sensors.

What gap is this you speak of? Is it that small recess between the holder and the sensor itself?
