:roflol: is this a age group thing? where most guys like to leave everything stock ? I agree to a certain point that some cars need to be left alone, But on the other hand by changing things e.g. Wheels its customizing, we don't all want to have a car that looks the same, we see them on a daily basis and at times don't even take note and appreciate them.

No its not an age group thing and I resent that stupid arguement especially the laughing bit, I dont laugh at your taste. I went through four sets of wheels including throwing stars before settling on the original turbines.

There are not many of these cars left, (under 45 cars in SA) and I just thought it would be nice for the next owner/collector to be able to buy the car as it came from the factory.

Most people dont understand the originality thing anyway when it comes to rare cars and collectables, I personally want the original thing not somebody elses cool pimpstar taste but maybe there is something wrong in my head that I dont undestand why one would want to customise the heck out of a car that is part of BMW history and ruin the legacy.

There are two aspects to cutomising, I have owned several cars where I totally customised them, go look at my threads, but I have no need to do it to an old M which I bought for what it is not what I want it to be

This is why car museam's exist so we can see these things as they were not as some guy customised it, and yes there are customised sections of museams but not the whole thing

Ok some points here.

1. There nothing wrong with those rims, for this year model of car, Rezax's where quite popular and still look good on the box shape and shark nosed BMWs. They are much better than those outdated turbine style rims which basically look like white-walled hubcaps. The standard rims may have been acceptable 20 years ago, but today are really too old school and past its sell by date.

2. The seats look neat and not over the top, I dont understand how one
can have a problem with the interior, when it is know that BMW interiors do not wear well over time, so this does look neatly redone .

3. The tyre profile and ride height of this car is wrong, it should be slightly higher at the front in my opinion with a thicker profile tyre up front. In the side view, it looks like the car is sitting on its rim at the front.

If the front lip is sprayed white, to match the side skirt and rear bumper, and the stripes removed, that would be one slick looking M5. In its current state it does look very clean, it's not perfect, but returning it to stock would not be a step in the right direction as the car would become too anonymous and conservative.

This is an M5 after all and deserves to have striking looks.........

Well, most people dont want to be seen driving a museum piece. Some older cars with tasteful customization can give the newer cars a go for all out appeal. Eg. a nicely customized E30, always gets my attention.

People are individuals, sometimes the talk of a vehicle's originality is tiresome. With so many BMWs on the road these days, doing some form of customization to make your car different has become very popular. If we all drove the same car original car with the same spec, motoring would be so boring and make us all look like clones.

Well said Rick.

If I was not satisfied with the car as it came, I would not have bought it.

And letting mr. X modify something in SA and having it break down all the time (as is proven by Crash's Jezebel), serves all the more as reason to leave things stock.

Anyway.......the point is its still a BMW and it is well looked after with a caring owner..... Good enough in my book
