So you saying a the coast , the NAs will be at a better advantage to the Turbos.

As far as I know all cars NA and Turbo both gain power at the coast.

You know very well the NA gains is more pronounced.

Depends on management, but a turbo will always lose less kw at the reef. The management could be set up so that the turbo car loses nothing

just looked it up and the early e90 320d does 0-100 in 8.8 later models do 7.90 my car stock does 8.0...I have a gear ratio that gives me a 10% tourque gain so guess what happend was about right :)

I still want more torque that lumina down the street keeps giving me hidings :)

That Lumina ? You mean the SS Lumina ? Yes, that car is pretty damn powerful. However I think a 320d could catch it off guard. :) With a remap you are looking at 420-440 nm of torque. Not even the SS could manage that.

Turbo Diesel great.
just make sure to save money every month for one day when you need to replace those injectors.
if it's the 1st generation commonrail motor, you can get the injectors cheaper from land-rover.
also make sure to add two-stroke oil(little bit) to your dieslel to give the pump and injectors some more life-span.
also make sure to upgrade the down-pipes and remove the cats.
when they are gone , the turbo work much better and your egt's run cooler - longer turbo life.
had a 330D once.
i'll buy one again.

Injectors are easy to service... (1st gen) two-stroke is about 300ml/70l

I've also not heard of injector trouble on the BMW d's as I hear about the turbo problems.

Have a 270CDi Merc in the company that got it's second set of injectors at 270k the other day (from the Merc dealer) for R20k (labour included)

BTW Netercol: that's awesome mileage on a first gen d.

yes it is :) personally i attribute it to the fact that i always used 500ppm diesel.. i reckon the better lubricity of 500ppm kept the injector pump alive.. even though it eventually gave up the ghost at 330k. (also i have to admit it was mostly long distance k's)

That price is for a recon turbo, new turbo from importers is 9000 plus minus a couple hundred depending on exchange rate etc. It might be the reason you are getting so much trouble. Might also be that you have a lemon. Or that your car has old software that can cause overboost, killing the turbo. Or your mechanic is an idiot that does not know how to properly install a turbo.
