Buying a 2012 Mini Cooper (R56)

Hi Guys,

What should be checked when purchasing the above vehicle (mechanically)?

I found one with 108 000km, 1 owner @ a good price (high km for the year...but mostly long distance driving).
Checked the history on the VIN# @ Mini CPT (all good).

Is the normal service intervals every 25 000km?
When is the big service due on these cars (IE: timing chain etc)?

Sorry for all the questions...but I'm not well educated on mini's at all.

Cheers

Hi

I had a 2012 Mini Copue R56 JCW package but not for too long. Bought it at 26000kms and sold it at 52000kms. Only did one oil service on it. Services are every 25000kms. What a beaut of a car, the handling, the speed, the drive amazing. Excellent consumption. Would not hesitate to buy one again for an everyday car if given the opportunity.

Thanks for reply:

This is just the standard 1,6 Cooper (90kw)..for the wife (Cooper S will be too fast for her .

To be honest, I'm not a big mini fan, but after driving this car, it's perfect for what she needs (drives well, safe, fuel consumption is good).

I Had one just like the one you are interrested in.
Had it for almost 85kkm. From 70kkm to just over 148kkm.

No problems, good car.
But I did a oil service every 10kkm.
Air filter is expensive at about R900 from BMW.
Brakes aswell can be expensive.

Noisy cam chains is a mild irritation, and the clutch kit also can be very expensive through the dealers.
The wife loved the car to bits.

Thanks for the info.

I also plan to service more regularly (every 10-15k km).

And I must agree with the "cam chain noise"...my wife asked me if the car was a diesel when we started up from cold.
