Hi guys

I'm currently shopping for the above mentioned. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with one and could tell me what to look out for.

If at all possible, find one with some motorplan left on it, you will want to sort out anything thats niggeling you before the MP runs out.

I was looking at one of these a while back, and noticed that there had been quite a lot of motorplan work carried out on the steering. When I drove it, it felt almost like the steering needed to be returned to the straight position after a turn, very strange. I dont know if that was a common problem, but I would look out for it anyway.

I would still love one of these cars, and feel that they are brilliant value for money, if you dont mind paying for petrol :)

These cars have adaptive steering, just one thing more that can go wrong. My dad has an e60 545i, so does his friend, both have had issues with automatic gearbox leaks, been back to BMW a few times to sort them out. My dad's friend's 545i cracked the gearbox housing just out of motorplan after it had been in and out the dealership a few times for the gearbox leaks. BMW wanted R35 000 for the job, he said stuff that and traded it in on a E90 330d, been happy since.

So long as you get one in MP you will be ok, use the option to extend the MP when you get it too. The 545i is a brilliant car to drive, the 6 speed auto is very smooth and responsive. It was my dad's 2nd choice because he was looking for a 550i manual but all he could find were black in colour...:(
