Thank you for all the info guys!

It is indeed a NetStar panic button. The guy from Car Track is busy installing the new tracking device. He will disconnect the NetStar one so that it does not drain my battery along with their unit.

I will have the NetStar fully removed at a later stage.

I contacted the dealer regarding the smoke, just waiting for a reply from them. I am not worried at the moment, since I have a 1 month, 1000km warranty on everything. If something is broken now, they must fix it! :tiptoe:

I would suggest you get an independent readout of any/all codes currently stored on the car and take the list to the dealer to sort out. That way they have a shopping list which needs to be addressed as well as a way to check if the problems were in fact addressed in the first place (by means of a follow-up code readout).

Thank you Hugo. Do you suggest I get this readout done at BMW themselves?

I bought this car from BMW Menlyn Auto...

It wouldn't hurt since the authenticity of the report could not be disputed, but I would get it done at a different dealer than the selling one. Not that I am in any way calling the integrity of the selling dealer into question. One just can't be too careful these day.
