I have a smoke before I drive anyways. Dont smoke in my car. This allows my engine to warm up a bit.
Will put the OEM stat back in Winter.

My cars warm up routine is as follows. (this is based on DBN climate)
Start up car :flyfun:
Allow the initial cold start warm up to settle to standard rpm.
Keep RPM to an absolute min while driving out the neighbour hood.
Turn on to freeway, no boosting at all. 5th gear @ 120km/h.
JB4 will flash to let me know the cars at correct temp within 8KM ( probably less)
Please note, this is on a highly worked N54. So i have to be very disiplined with my start up routine!
Shutting down, also requires a few kms for no boosting and a few minutes to idle in the garage before allowing her to sleep.
The car also only gets taken out on race days or at least once every 2nd month.

The last step, leaving the car to idle after some lighter driving is uneccessary as the turbos are watercooled and the waterpump will continue to circulate water with the car off for a while.
That said I also let mine idle....just in case
bimmer330 said:Yep. Idle is good but I heared something running after shut off sometime. Is this the waterpump?
