Bunny Chow

Must agree with Curry and All not being consistent. Their standards seems to have dropped as they have gained popularity.

No one mentioned Hollywood Argyle Rd. They are pretty consistent, that chef gets it right every time. My opinion is confined to the beans bunny though being vegetarian :)

Durban fanatics even did a lunch run to that branch rather than Springfield. Cooking is much better at Argyle.

Also, I work for a Big 4 firm that audits Hollywood Bets, I can vouch personally that their ingredients are always fresh and good quality, we see these things during stock count audits.

Also you guys need to try Chillies in Mutual Mall on West Street. It's like an undiscovered gem. Curry is genuine, my colleagues raved about the mutton curry too.

Durban fanatics need to do another bunny run  Last one was at Orientals in the Workshop IIRC.

I agree. Had a mutton bunny there not too long ago. Was definitely better than most durban places, curry had a bit of a bite to it.

So I am in Durban, and I have sampled the following joints and rank them accordingly.

1 - Goundens - Umbilo Road
2 - Oriental - Galleria

Will try Hollywood before I leave this weekend.

I have been following this thread with great interest and have been waiting for a revelation as to who in JHB does a proper bunny.

So let me break it down for you in plain language :)

Where in JHB does a guy go to enjoy a bunny chow which is spicy but not hot and will not require the use of the fire brigade the morning after.

Also one must be able to sit down and eat with ones hands and not attract the attention and stares of other patrons :)

There's a good take-away where Nagiah's used to be. Excellent

I was in the East Rand last week, and couldn't find an Indian food place to eat:blueCry:

Yup, Suriyans. I used to be there at least twice a week when they were new. Every time I referred someone, they were always inconsistent and then eventually became inconsistent with my food so I stopped going there almost a year and 1/2, 2 years now.

There's a new-ish place in Kyalami called Sesh's Curry or Delhi or something (I go there at least once a week but don't know the second part of the name :thumbdo:)

The make a really good mutton bunny. There's a specific menu for each day. Cauliflower with roti is also a winner. Oh, and one of Tuesday's specials is mutton and cabbage :blowheart:

Ive seen their sign as you drive into the centre, have not tried them though. Will pop in...thanks for the heads up.

Used to go to Suriyan often as well, but not after the last 2 poor chows.

Have you tried Purple Lounge in Midrand believe they pretty good?
