Breakfast run to Franschoek Pass, 4 August

Do you think Franschoek could accommodate us all?:rollsmile:

Guys,if there is one thing I ask of everyone, is that we all act appropriately. I have heard horror stories about events like this that turn into a circus with people revving engines,doing donuts,spinning,speeding and being general lunatics. Most of us will have our families with us and we would like to know that we are all adults enjoying an awesome day out with other enthusiasts. If we are going to make this and future events successful,we have to do it properly.:thumbs:

We also don't wanna land up on YouTube....:roflol:......for the wrong reasons....:fencelook:

Are we gonna stop in the town as well for a bit or are we just driving through..

No, we not stopping in Franschoek town, if we did we will probably finish the event in the evening.
Its worth asking everyone at the museum, when we about to leave, if they wanna stop in town or drive thru to do the Franschoek pass and back. We'll discuss it on Sunday and see what the majority says

Well said Morgan.

We've (the forum Admin) made rules for "Official Fanatics events" and "Non Official events". We've created these 2 subforums in each Regional forum.

The reason for these rules is because of the midnight runs in JHB that caused problems with the other road users.

I will look for the rules and post them in here.

Here is some of the rules:
MOTIVATION

2. If any mishaps do occur, the CLUBS names will be the first to be mentioned. Like when a motorist is caught speeding, the headlines read "BMW DRIVER CAUGHT SPEEDING". But it needs to be known to each and every member that the club does not condone ORGANIZED and illegal racing on public roads.

7. If something goes horribly wrong at a BWFanatics hookup, the damage to this forum's reputation would be immense let alone any possible legal ramifications over and above the obvious harm it can cause upon families.

11. Within, create "BMW Fanatics Events" - Here, an Events Committee should only post events. This is where the OFFICIAL events will be listed for members to attend.

12. Setup an Events Committee, only these people will be allowed to post in the BMW Fanatics Events section making these such events official events which would obviously have a set start and end time and obviously exclude any form of illegalities.

13. Create a subsection within Events, for Non-BMW Fanatics Events - This section will be for those that want to arrange the Ice Cream meets etc. But, the description of this section must state clearly that "The BMW Fanatics club and its events organizers will not be held responsible for any circumstances occurred at these events. The BMW Fanatics club and its members do not condone organized racing on public roads" etc

2. A start time, a end time and then organizers of the event make sure nobody sticks around to start a race or trouble,etc

4. When there is a proper structure and closing time of each event, whatever happens thereafter has nothing to do with us as a forum

DISCLAIMERS

1. Organisers, when organising the event need to make it clear that during the event/run, no racing is allowed

2. The disclaimer will also appear on the EVENT INVITATION

3. But we can control the environments and we can control what is posted on the Forum and we can Control the contributing factors for the events to an extent.

4. So we don't promote it, we force nobody, but what happens after a meet is at every persons own accord.

5. The forum has no association whatsoever with what happens after, ever!

TRAVELLING TO DESTINATION

1. Start the meet-up with a pep talk prior to the event and warn against the inherent dangers

2. Senior members should be encouraged to mentor newer members and NOT openly chastise, ridicule and criticize on the open forum.

3. Nominate "marshalls"

4. More marshals on the day to lead as well as fall behind so everyone travels in a group.

5. Lead and last car mashalls will work great

6. Everyone travels in a group.

9. Have a pace car in the front of the run everytime.

10. When we all drive in convoy on runs we should maintain a 2 lane rule on 4 lane highways and 1 lane on 2 or 3 lane roads. So guys are encouraged not occupy more than those lanes on the roads.

11. Shows some sort of civilized uniform driving and we aren't a hazard to other drivers.

CLOSING OF EVENT

1. Official announcement closing of event.

2. Once the event is over, everyone can go on their merry way as individuals not representing BMWFanatics.co.za.

3. Also results of the 'after parties' if any should not be posted on the forum and misconstrued as associated with the particular event. That way no issues from a legal standpoint nor conflicts of interest regarding our support of Arrive Alive campaign.

I’m stopping the meal orders tonight. If you havnt mentioned either of the 2 meals (sarmies or scones) for the Deli I will assume you either eating breakfast at home or at McD’s.

If a few of us are wanting to eat lunch somewhere, we will discuss it at the top of the Tunnel pass.

Placed the orders.

Confirmed orders:
Scones = 7
Sarmies = 15 (1 without ham)

Ordered extra (3 of each) in case some of you decide to eat there:
Scones = 10
