There has been quite a bit on the forum regarding brakes and which is good and not.
My brakes are nearing the end of its life and i need to change both discs and pads as the discs are warped and pads are sh#t.

I currently have ATE, and im not impressed at all. yes there is no squeals and little dust, but the brakes does not bite and the stopping power is poor. Im very relluctant to buy ATE again.

What are your views on ferrodo?
I also found out about a brand called Meyle. Have any of you guys had any experience with this brand. I got a quote of R2260 for both front and rear pads and discs (bmw 325ti). Its a german imported product, so i doubt it can be sh#t.

I would like to go EBC, but way out of my budget at the moment.
any suggestions?

ATE is OEM stuff for BMW, maybe you need to change your brake fluid or service your calipers?

What could be the problem with the calipers?

Check for any signs of leaks etc, the seals can deteriorate. Seals kits are available from BMW at about R250 per caliper, which includes the new seal, dust cover and caliper piston.

thanks will check that out.
any views on Meyle?

I didnt know they did brakes discs etc, just knew about them doing suspension bushes. Check out some of the overseas forums and see if you can get a review or 2.

im not sure but i think you could find pads with a higher friction than ate they may make your brakes run hot thou with standard disks...
what size tire you running?

you should not have a problem stopping with the oem brakes unless you braking hard many times in a row

205 up front with 225 at back? better brakes will probably just lock them up sooner not stop you quicker

if you braking hard a few times in a row the standard brakes can give problems
ive only had pad fade once and i was trying to see how much the standard brakes could take...

i would check your brake fluid or service your callipers like freerider suggested

I have recently put a full set of Ferodo's on my 320D, very good stopping power, but a the cost of a lot of dust. I would definitely recommend them.

the problem with the ferrodo platinum is that its hard on the disks. will check out the ferrodo ceramics and will def check brake fluid and calipers for wear.

Not if you bed them in correctly.

I am also referring to the ceramics, they make nice dust.

im finding out about pricing, will post prices when i get it. how much did the ferodo ceramics cost you Tumo?
i can deal with the dust, as long as it stops me and bites.

if i go with ferodo pads, would ate discs be fine or should i rather replace with an alternate brand? and if so which brand do you recommend?

my ferodo ceramics was about R450 for front, i paid R400 for rears.

I'm also running the 'Frodo' Ceramics and I don't have much trouble with dust. Though my car is mostly long distance.
