brake system warning light

good day....... i replaced my brake discs and pads with ate pads and discs......... i did not buy new brake pad sensors as the old ones still looks fine.... but now after replacing the new discs n pads and put back the old sensors on the pads as the looked good no damage the warning light on the instrument cluster came on ..... any suggestions wat to do???? plz help

Depends on what car you talking about, older models the sensors could be reused if undamaged as they only actually ground when the pad gets to a certain wear point. The newer sensors like on my E90 have to be replaced as they actually wear with the pad, thats how they can say how much km's before next pad change.

Get sensor, I think there is only one for the front and one for the rear, they not too expensive. I got mine from Midas.

the sensor might look fine, but in 99% of the cases it isn't

the older sensors work on a "closed" loop principle to keep the light OFF, once the wear actually touches the sensor, it causes the sensor to worn thru in such a way as to now be open circuit...and that triggers the light

a cheap "Tembisa" fix, temporarily, is to trace the wires from the sensor, expose the wires by shaving off the coating, twist the wires into each other to achieve a "closed" circuit

also just make sure that the light you are referring too isn't in actual fact the brake fluid level sensor light, very common to loose fluid after a brake change, and might need a top up
