Brake Pad Replacement Warning

Morning All,

I require some insight Pls?

Based on the Warning message, is there a sub section that identifies Front or Rear without a physical inspection?

What is the estimated mileage that can be covered once the warning sensor has been activated?

F30 320D

Thanks

Not to worry I managed to get the Info required...in the Sub menu:thumbs:

Does anyone know where I can get Textar Pads from for a F30 320D Msport

Tried:
Afripart as recommended by Textar - They have no pads listed for F30 320D
Imcomex - Stop Dealing with Textar due to poor stock and delivery.

Any other suggestions on Good Pads and suppliers?

I still have to get into contact with goldwagen to see if they have stock of Textar pads

Just chatted to GW edenvale they only do
SureBrake
Front:R996.00
Rear: R895.00
Sensors:R165 each

My 1st choice is Textar, I have them on my 335 they excellent...I have contacted Textar directly awaiting response.
2nd.ATE
3rd.Bosch

Not keen to try anything else.
BTW Imcomex has TWR I have never heard of this brand - sales man says its like OEM.

A bit of a generalization... EBC is great. Textar ATE etc are fine. Not sure how one company can make a great pad for an e90 and shit pad got an f30. Same composition is it not...?

Obviously premium brands like EBC etc is are good....

I was referring to the budget pads, yes even the Textar aftermarket is not of the same quality supplied to bmw....

What about Ferodo?
bought them and a sensor from GHO in Cape Town and they worked great on my car. All for under 1k

Just a heads up, if your warning light has been triggered, as yours have, you can not take it to the normal supa quick or those guys and reset it yourself, this will need to be done by Bimmer.

Not true, you just need to change the sensor and reset the warning yourself, Its actually very easy to reset. You don't need to send the car in to be done by bimmer :roflol:

i was also told BMW moved away from ATE and are now using TRW pads.

I fitted TRW a month ago and they work great

I would definitely stay away from Surebrake pads. There disks however are actually built really well.

The textars i had on previously used to squeak.....dont have that with TRW.

i would however choose EBC Ultimax which is around the same price. Unfortunately there was no stock when i needed them.

Currently using that TRW or TWR from Imcomex and they squeak like hell. The car is going in for service at the dealership tomorrow and they said they will clean them and put copper sleeve paste/grease. Hopefully that will stop the squeal

Just went to SMG earlier today to get a quote on pads(front and rear) and sensors, looking at R3803.21

They also didn't want to tell me what brand it is

Surprisingly not the highest quote I got given from them today

SO I went OEM...

After Many calls and pricing and Brands offered I decided to bite the bullet and go With OEM Brake Pads.

The situation is the the Rears are on a Sensor warning and the Fronts show 1600kms left.

I did managed to get hold of Textar directly - Trading as Control Instruments Automotive - they searched all there retailers with no Pads available at any..back order was 2/3 months.

I tried the likes of :
Goldwagen - Front: Febi/Hella Rear: SureBrake - No matched sets for F&B
Midas - Front: ATE Rear: none - No matched sets for F&B
Autozone - Front Ferodo(R3300..lol) Rear R750
Imcomex - TWR or some unknown
Afripart - No Listing for BMW F30
Alan- textar supplier( suggest by someone from forum) Metelli -R1900 f&R incl 2x sensors

over all no one had a matched set of Front and rears ( besides the metelli)- So The best choice was BMW.
JSN BMW - R3700 F&R including both sensors.

I'm getting

2x ATE Front Disks + Pads + Sensors for R3200 from Autozone. Is the price good?

I think its more a brand preference to pricing based on forum members experiences.( yes pricing is also a big factor) ATE will be more or less a similar prices across various retails..

I would of opted for ATE as my second choice if I could find front and rears,

I do remember ATE being BMW OEM some years ago, So i used them on my previous E36, 46. with no Issues. The BMW OEM changed to Textar not too long ago, Ive used Textar on my current car with no issues.
