I would rather go for Meyle than Motopart. I think it is the inhouse brand at Midas

Exactly what I was thinking. Thats why I thought maybe to do Meyle discs and ATE pads

Just got off the phone with Midas.

Motorparts discs and ATE pads = R2330.40

They dont stock ATE discs.

Goldwagen Meyle discs and pads - R2355.00

So really not much in it.

Dont really know Motorparts. Also thought of maybe buyin Meyle discs and ATE pads.

Thus some at Goldwagen and some at Midas. Could maybe get off from the pads as I know someone working at Midas

Just phoned the dealer:
Discs front: R466.11 each
Pads front: R928,28

That's R1860.50 for everything from the dealer. :dunno:

Doing front and back.

But thats still much less than the R3500 or something stupid the dealer qouted me here.

So that would probably be R3700 for front and back from dealer vs R2350 from Midas and Goldwagen.

Thus R1350 less. Which should cover my rear shocks as well

Did you phone Midas in Goodwood for the quote? Reason for asking, they are the main branch here and as such have the warehouse of all stock for the smaller branches.

I would be much more confident with Meyle disks than that other brand.

You can try Masterparts as well, they have decent pricing on parts. If you can get a reasonable price from dealers i would opt for that. The ATE, ferodo type discs are typically not coated for rust and look terrible already the day after you fit them.

Philip what other brand are you referring to? ATE? ATE make good brakes.

Tell me about it. My ferodos look terrible. But you can spray them before fitting and then they don't rust.

Those Motorparts from Midas...

Yep, one thing I regret is not having sprayed the new disk hubs black before fitting - at least now the rust has gotten darker and less "reddish".

It's most likely just disks. Chris get ATE they are good pads and have minimum brake dust. Ferrodos are also good but lots of brake dust

I don't have very much faith in these lesser known brands!

When it comes time for me to replace the front disks on my E90 330i, this is going to be an interesting exercise too I reckon!

Then you just get them from PowerBrake. :fencelook:
Or just a set of BMW Performance discs. :fencelook:

Guys when Gizmo phoned Alberante BMW 2 weeks ago they wanted R4100 for rear discs and pads :thumbdo:
I ended up buying Gizmos OEM discs that did around 3000km for R2000 and ATE rear pads at Midas for R539.

This is on an E46 330i though:thumbs:
