Brake Centre

Morning guys,

This morning i took my car to BMW to have it fixed. The brake light started showing and i thought the brake pads were worn out. It turns out it was not the case, however the problem was brake centre, so BMW gave me quote and i told them to go ahead and fix the problem, minutes later the lady from BMW Centurion calls me again and tells me that although the brake pads are not worn out they however need to be fixed as they make a noise. Personally i have never heard any noise and this got me worried. Is this possible as they initially indicated that there was nothing wrong with them but only the brake centre, has anyone experienced the same thing or are these guys just trying to suck me dry? :nonono:

whats Brake center? or do you mean disks...

if it is brake disks then it may be advisable to change the pads at the same time depending on thickness... also old pads will take longer to bed in causing squealing till the wear in with each other...

I would never take my car to BMW for this work out of warranty...

Yes, i did...!
You are making me concerned now, why are you sorry?

check Moranor's thread of Dealerships to go to. also I had a very bad experience there.

Will do so, anyway i just thought because i work in centurion it would not be that much of schlep to get to work after dropping the car! Hope they dont mess up my car!

Hi Guys,

thought i should give you some feedback with regards to the problem i had with my car.

Well the problem was the sensor, which was replaced at a cost of R255.00, however the total cost amounted to R1000.60 Vat Incl. When i went to collect the car, i was told that there was not wrong with my car except the sensor which they replaced, this is contrary to what they said ealier on that day and to my surprise the problem they alluded to when the gave me a quote unspeakably got fixed.

These guys wanted me to pay R745 for labour, which i did, plus some more money for a non existent problem. :fencelook: No wonder some people just prefer to DIY their cars.

they milked you... :thumbdo: should not take longer than 30min to change the sensor...

I would lay a complaint about it with BMWSA even if no action is taken now it will still be on their record...

They sure did, which is sad :nonono:
Now they are calling and asking me to rate their service! As far as they are concerned they gave me a rock star treatment (10/10)...!

I have saved a sheet of good bmw dealers that you guys pointed me to on thursday to take my car to, from what i have read about them from this forum and what i have personally experienced, i think i will just stay away from them and save myself unneccessary headache!
