ive been looking more into it this morning and it seems its better the push the towers together than pull them apart... the only way i can think of doing this with a normal bar is to put weights in the front foot wells...
camber can be changed as xmas was saying, but you do need to put alot of tension in to do this and too much will rip things over time... what i would do is make a mark on both sides, loosen it, jack/push the car and make sure the mark does not move more than 2mm this should make tension without any negative effects...
if you have a pre-tensioning bar they recommend no more than 1/3 of a turn from static so my guesstimate is under 2mm each side...
you should be able to get it sand blasted... all you need are bmwfanatics stickers... take them to a sandblasting place and they can use them to block off the metal
