Actually a last number is a designation given to 850's, learnt this at a Petrol station by the attendant, when I still drove my CAR which become the ex's 850 (READ ex gets my 850 thread ..lol)

He said the 8 series, especially the V12 is called a LAST NO, since its the highest designation of any BMW

My votes: and I don't know everyone, and so many beautiful cars i've seen at shows.. its hard to choose

"Last number" implies the highest designation in its class or series, not of the brand as a whole. i.e. 1M is last number in the 1 series range. Also, it could refer to normal series production vehicles, like 135i. An ///M would generally be referred to as an ///M, and not really referred to as last number, but that doesn't preclude it.

So your 850 is the last number in the 8 series range.
