Huge thanks to Sankekur, Fordkoppie and Hitman for the invitation to check out the track with them, had a blast! Need to do it more often. Pity about the bumps killing my engine mount but that gave me the excuse to ride shotgun for a couple laps with Fordkoppie in the red 325i on stale street tyres, that man can drive!
:clapper:

Makes me want to get back into drifting.

What lap times did you run?

Wasn't timing, was my first time to the track and wanted to learn the track first. Besides, lap times are kinda pointless when you constantly dodging pot holes and rough tarmac. Both engine mounts tore at my first outing there, was not impressed.

What's your recommendation, BMWCCG Track Day on the 3rd or not?

A bit over dramatic sir, I have been round that track with my car and bike. Yes it is bumpy, yes the surface is rough but by no means so rough that is it "dangerous" to your car.

There are some very fast bikes there every weekend and I have seen single seaters go around there as well.

I like the layout more than I like the Z, but it could do with some resurfacing.

Dewald, you don't have a lowered car on coil overs so won't know the extent of how bad that track is. Sure the track is fine for a stock car on stock suspension, in fact it is better to use a stock car for that poor track surface. I may even use my e46 for the event instead.

Agreed the layout is vastly superior to big Z.

Watching some recent footage of the inland tour it seems I'm not the only one with complaints of that place being a car breaker.

If a single seater can run around Midvaal and if the BMW car club is willing to rent Midvaal for a track day it is not that bad.

To 3of65 go judge for yourself as there will always be mixed POV's. The layout is great and surface is rough we can all agree on that, how rough is debatable.

Gizmo you insulting and aggressive nature is not conductive to bettering the forum as whole. I respect your position in the forum, as you have assisted me before on various items. However you unyielding approach to be more knowledge , makes it unbearable to debate with you.

What I am trying to say is - Relax bro, be cool :coolShake:

Not trying to be insulting, you reading me wrong. My apologies.

PS, I didn't call the track dangerous. Just giving first hand experience of the track at a very recent event. If the track were dangerous I wouldn't attend the event.

I will give it a go on the 03rd June.

Had a blast today! De-laminated 2 of my semis on the last session I ran. My best time today was 1min21sec so I have something to compare to next time.

AudiDriver (Albert), it was great to see you again and great to compare 328i's on track. Bernard and the whole crew at BMWCCG thanks once again for a well organised event. The 30 or so cars meant we had decent open track to play on with very little overtaking. Was nice to see a chic belting her S3 around the track, her dad brought her up well.

Thanx Gizmo!!

Not our biggest turnout, but was still great, just disappointed I could only do 1 session, hopefully something small!!

Next track day will be Red Star on 12 August, Phakisa 16 September and 28 October is the Big One at Kyalami, we planning something special, hopefully we can get it right, so watch this space
