discussion BMW x3 headlights

Anyone know what’s the difference between these to headlights on the pre facelift current gen x3. The ‘hexagonal’ lights seems to be more popular on the 2018 cars. I don’t see them on the 2021 year models.

The standard cars come with normal LEDs, like my 2018 X3. The light beam is quite good at night.

From the 2018 brochure:

Standard:
LED technology for low-beam headlights, side lights and daytime driving lights. Halogen for high-beam headlights and turn indicators

SA5A4 (R16,600):
LED technology for low-beam headlights, high-beam headlights, side lights daytime driving lights, cornering lights and rear lights. Halogen turn indicators

SA552 (R21,500):
Adaptive LED headlights includes two part LED rear lights with tail light, brake light, turn indicators and fog lights with LED technology. Reversing light with LED technology (only with SA5AC)

So my F25 has developed a cataract with the RHS xenon bulb and has turned purple/pink with no faults on the iDrive. The Googles have said that it has most likely reached its EOL. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any leads, prices to replace etc. would be appreciated.

You're in Durban right?
Contact Jabba for LED replacements
Or if you're into DIY, then Firi should be able to sort you out with globes.

Mr Y has given you 100% correct answer, many 2018 model have Adaptive and many of the M40i's, 30d, 40d & of course the X3M has Adaptive. not many people fit them onto 20d and 18d. The Adaptives are REALLY worth it, besides the nice look of the DRLs, the intelligence of the headlights and behaviour of it is superb.
