My 2012 X1 2.0i sDrive (77 000 km) has recently developed a rattling underneath the car. I suspect it may be a faulty catalytic converter.
The car is no longer serviced at the dealership (out of plan for two years now).
If it is a faulty cat, I don't really feel like replacing it (I understand it's a massive cost) just to save the dolphins or rain forest.
Would you guys recommend a decat on this car? How complicated would it be for my local mechanic to do? Remapping and new O2 sensors required? I am based in Potch, so not too far from Gauteng if you can recommend someone?
I should probably mention that I have a plug and play standard race chip connected (would this also require remapping?).
