There is one thing that you have not considered ?

Has that car been to a panel shop before, and if so, has it been more then once ?

You would be shocked to know what happens to vehicles coming off of ships onto trains/into storage ect.

I spent some time in that industry... its frikken scary stuff.

:fencelook: no issues with my e92 so far...!

Which is the way it's suppose to be. Sadly it seems we're seeing more and more troublesome new cars these days. :shakehead:

A friends father had a similar issue with JEEP. They crashed it into a wall on the sale lot and tried to sell it to him... He told them he didn't want it anymore and didn't want to wait weeks for another one. He had already deposited the money and it took a life time to get it back.

:nonono: I would demand money back or a car with all stated features it supposed to have or another car that is properly sprayed and built

MAKE it BMW's problem is the only option to deal with the clowns at BMW SA.

They asked for some time to investigate the matter...

But surely I should be kept informed....

Legacy - I will go that route if nothing comes of it.

How much time do they need? Surely this should not take weeks.
Maybe you should get hold of them and ask for some feedback.

If it were me, I would take the car back to the dealer. Tell them to give you a courtesy car and put your name on the list for a complete new replacement car.

Hey there M_Diesel, I'm not sure why you are being so accommodating to BMW SA, so far. As you mentioned the car is not 100%, delivered by the dealer to you. You have every right under CPA to return the vehicle if not satisfied. Definitely, you should start seeking legal advice to know what your rights are, or read up on the CPA.

I would understand if it was an Approved used car, which may have had some niggles, but definitely not acceptable for a brand new vehicle, from a manufacturing point of view. If I was the the dealer I would not have delivered to you, hearing all the problems, as it is reputation damaging, as is means that the dealer is some slap dash organisation that doesn't check anything, PDIs are there for this reason to check if the vehicle is suitably prepped and ready for customer delivery. By the dealer actually delivering a dud vehicle to you, can be seen as they just chasing the sales and not worrying about customer satisfaction.

All BMW SA need to do is send out a rep and technician to have a look at the vehicle, make a list of defects to report to the Regional Sales Manager, and then make a call on what to do. Surely it doesnt require indepth analysis, when your satisfaction is not 100% with a car that is R450K+? Remember if this drags on for months, the vehicle losses book value monthly, if BMW SA come to some conclusion that they can sort out the issues and you dont want to keep the vehicle, you might be looking at taking a knock reselling it, if BMW SA dont want to take the vehicle back.

They need to get off their arses and do something about it, like yesterday!!!

The colour and model isn't hard to come by information.

Wow, this is shocking to hear!! Really sorry that you are having this nonsense right now!! Definitely need to get your money back by the sounds of it!!

I firmly believe that BMW peaked with the E46/E39 era and is riding on their success with those models and other past models that were truly good. If I compared my E90 to my Wife's E46 I can definitely see quality differences between the two with the E46 overall being the better of the two. With my E90 there is soft touch plastics that are wearing badly and some interior rattles, in particular from the passenger seat when unoccupied - the rear vent face plate on the centre console does not fit properly and as such the clips are broken! Was this way since I got the car as the second owner, but the impression that I get is that this was a manufacturing fault that was never picked up on or too late in terms of the standard BMW warranty, and of course motorplan does not cover this sort of thing.

Another angle to this is that sadly the brand seems to be lowering it's overall quality standards in favour of being a more mass market brand, and this is where the Korean and even Chinese car makers are improving and making huge strides forward while retaining the mass market status. Now the problem is that the majority of new car buyers aren't really as particular and pay attention to quality issues, and locally especially (South Africans are so used to bad service and quality these days). But put one of us in the picture being fanatical about the brand, of course we are going to notice these problems and not be willing to accept it.

There was a member here not so long ago that bought a new black 1 Series which had paint defects that were clearing there before he signed and took delivery of the car. Months of back and forth nonsense but he eventually got his money back! Shocking that it had to take as long as it did and that this was the case to begin with.

Personally, I think the older BMW's are the way to go, which is a real shame and if BMW is not careful, they are going to get themselves into irreversible trouble sooner than they think!
