BMW Performance Air Intake - Yes/No?

Hi All,

I am thinking of installing the BMW Performance air intake in my 335i. Price from the dealer is R 2 500 excluding labour.

Is it worth it? Is there a noticible difference in sound and or performance?

Should I consider another option?

Car is 100% stock at the moment and don't want to do anything that will put the motorplan in jeopardy.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance
M

Maddox - are you serious at that price ?
When i found out about this it was like 7-9k on my pre lci E90 323i.

Where do you get it this cheap ?

I called Forsdicks TV again to make sure. They sound pretty clueless about what one actually gets etc.

Rather poor I must say. One would think the parts guys would know about the performance range etc.

It seems it is R 2 500 just for the air ducts?? They want me to bring the car in etc.

You will certainly not get any noticeable performance increase, the charge pressure is electronically regulated - meaning the same amount of air will enter the engine under the same circumstances, meaning the same amount of power will come out of the engine. But simply the cosmetic value should be worth it - depending on you.

I did not, that's why I said it should be worth it based on that alone... (depending on personal taste, of course)

Cosmetics was about 90% of the reason why I got the performance intake :fencelook: :mmm:

Then it turned out it sounds awesome as well :woot:

Re: intake, I paid close on R8k for mine. I got minor improvements in power throughout the rev range, and a noticable torque increase low down.

I'm sure on the 335i, the gains will also be marginal. BMW do a pretty good job with the standard stuff :=):

Sorry the kit is actually this one: BMW Performance Kit E90 335i (complete)

Price is said to be roughly US$ 2.000 so its going to be arround R16.000

R1.500 is a bargain if it consists of everything except the ECU but maybe its only the airducts for US$195 hence roughly R1.600 which would explain it all (part nr: 51742157666)

Power kit with FSC BMW PERFORMANCE 1 03/2008 11122157665 $2,065.00 See EBA 2160471
only in conjunction with
-- Air duct 1 03/2008 51742157674 $195.00
-- Auxiliary cable, Power Kit, RHD 1 03/2008 11122163613 +core
