bmw n54 DCI QUESTION

guys

wanted an opinion on something .

when going the DCI route , is it a must to use BMS ? I have a friend that has a E92 335i and he used 2 x Simota Cone filters ,(fair enough these are cheap but they seem to be doing the job well ) silicone reducers into a pvc fitting and into the oem pipes .

Is there such a negligible difference between BMS airfilters and others , K+N , BMC , APEXI etc ?

No you don't have to use BMS bud, i have K an N and they work, i guess its down to personal preference and what you can afford.

The nice thing about the BMS setup is its completely plug and play.

You could go K&N but you need a flange with varying diameters from the filter to the inlet pipe to make them fit.

Yepp the reducers.

I actually fitted a pair of K&N filters yesterday which replaced the BMS DCI's.

Luckily i had aluminium reducers.

Guys

If the filter is a 76mm , what reducer will be needed ? and what diameter piping ( pvc /metal pipe ) to join to oem pipe ?
