What a terrible story. Why would the insurance repudiate a claim such as yours? I hope the ombudsman give your insurer a shit time. Were you able to take pix of the car flooding? Taking a picture is normally the first thing i think about when something unusual happens but when it is appropriate of course.

After the rain in PE the dealer got 8 hydrolocked engines. It happens more then you would think. But I would imagine that a hydrolocked engines would not turn over, with S shaped conrods.

Yep

A whole lot of issues there too hey

Seems like that day was just not may day :argh::argh:

And besides I'm having issues with them about issues other than the actual incident.....(In other words they don't want to pay)

But the matter is currently under investigation at the Ombudsman

name the insurance company

Petrol is easy , take plugs out and turn motor to get water out , change oil etc and it should start . Can you strip the injectors and glow plugs out then swing motor ?

Sorry to hear about your trouble. :flyfun: If the motor has to be rebuild due to water damage, then surely it is mechanical failure???

Perhaps zaleonardz can assist with an electronic diag, he is in JHB area.

I would be very reluctant to purchase a diesel out of motor plan.

Good luck

Thanks will do that,

I know now not to do that,

But initially I did some home work, googled, enquired and then decided to go for it, not thinking that such a thing would happen

I'll give zaleonardz a try and work from there,
problem with stripping the glowplugs is that I would need to remove the struts

Will that not cause another problem?

:thumbdo: The insurance is I-Direct:argh:

I could only take 2 pics, basically look the same, but can't really see much

Biggest problem is that I do not know how to upload it here

Can anyone help?

But when trying to start the car just swings, like there is no spark

if it swings, its not hydro-locked, (at least not anymore) the diesels have VERY strong starter motors, and you can easily bend rods just from trying to start a hydro-locked diesel.

you really need to have a compression test done, if all 4 cylinders are in spec, then its electronic, as simple as that..

I would say so hey,

When draining the oil, quite a bit of water came out before the oil, we almost ended up closing the nut thinking that maybe the turbo was water cooled or something, but then the oil started coming out

Think something like close to 2 liters of water came out before the oil

We also turned the crank manually before draining the oil, turned fairly difficultly and again after putting new oil, even did that when we replaced the oil again with oil filter (wanted to ensure that there was really no water left in the oil) and still felt the same, we assumed that this was due to the compression with in the engine
And it just swings, like there is either no spark or like its not getting fuel/diesel
