BMW M550d 0 - 250.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!

We've come a long way from the old 325tds haven't we? 15 years ago the world would have scoffed at the idea of a 3l diesel doing anything close to what that monster is doing!!

Well Done BMW!!

It looks like it could be quicker if it shifts at 5000 rpm, you can see a noticeable loss of performance between 5k and 5.5k rpm.

It does move wow :praise:

Agreed. I think he botches almost every shift, but 1-2 is the worst. Would be faster if he left it in auto, sport would be fastest, but why did he choose manual?

It sounds a bit like a flat 6 petrol from inside...

And he didnt even hit 8th gear...

On most cars, you cannot reach top speed in top gear, it is simply for economy.

That said, this one probably could, with all that torque

That's impressive for a vehicle with an agricultural engine.

Interesting that the driver had DSC off and used manual. I think the car would be quicker if he would have left it in sports auto.

It sounds nice from the inside, just a pity about the clatter with the bonnet open.

Have you ever driven a "modern" diesel or only heard them when they were pulling away from you? They are a far cry from being "agricultural".

It's in 'Sport +' mode, stiffens the suspension right up and tweaks the drive trains performance, my 535d does the same, DSC switches of partially. Throttle respose becomes razor sharp too.

If you enter a corner to fast thou, DSC still intervines thou. You can switch it off completely, but then you gotta have balls of steel and hang on tight. The DSC light then goes red and you get a message on the IDrive that asks you if you are sure you know what your doing, and you have to confirm...
