Go to ford and order one and wait a few months and you will get it for 820k for manual or 839k for auto

I saw that Ford on Voortrekker Rd, Goodwood, had 2 on the floor there.

They are two very different cars, both epic in their own right.
V8 is V8.
Not even I know which route I would go, most likely M2

the companies on the autotrader selling those cars are absolutely retarded, feel sorry for the people that dont know any better, buy it and get ripped off

Why would you buy it from fouche at a grossly marked up price if you can get it a your local ford garage? I would rather be last on the waiting list than pay so much more.

Made my choice.. M2 FTW all day everyday.
5.0 petrol consumption when driving chilled= no thanks
inexperienced SA mechs at ford = no thanks
sub build quality, which will get worse with age = No thanks
resale once the waiting list is gone isnt going to be good, I dont know why everyone thinks its going to be when you can just walk into a dealership and order a new one..

Theres no history in SA of Mustangs so I doubt theres going to be massive amounts of people that are interested in buying one 2nd hand.

M2 will be reasonable on fuel consumption in comparison
at least BMW in SA have tons of experience working on even more complex M cars
german build quality
resale because of the huge BMW following will definitely be good for the first 3 years after that probably still good

most important it has old school BMW soul with modern BMW tech.
it will be an engineering master piece.

thats my thoughts anyways.
I do love the look of the GT in those pics but i have seen one on the roads and it didnt look nearly as good as the pics.

each to their own

Dont get me wrong, the M2 is awesome but i think the Mustang would turn way more heads than the M2 and also that V8 sound out weights the Turbo sound when it comes to pure coolness. :clapper:

there are gnat be people in line waiting to buy Mustangs..SA is Stang crazy

maybe but I dont see any proof of that..
how many have you ever seen here?
i know someone with a Shelby GT500 and theres one other that Ive seen in Pretoria.
If there are tons of people that are Stang crazy then surely more people wouldve made the mission to get one?

also if the waiting list is only 5 months it doesnt seem like theres quite the queue that people were making out. which again suggests there isnt a very high demand

just my observation..

I agree, it will turn more heads.
however after getting shot for a bright red flashy Megane which turned tons of heads Im not so keen on everyone in the neighborhood turning their heads and watching where i live everytime I drive past.
in saying that I do understand that appeal, its just not what im after when buying a car.

I have managed to get myself a number 2 slot for a bmw m2, have till the end of the week to decide if i want it. there is no allocation yet and the dealer is not sure if they getting, so number 2 slot might not mean anything but according to other dealers i spoke too they all getting 1-4 cars each. one dealer said that south africa getting 60 odd cars for this year, 190 cars total for the next 3 years.

What makes you think BMW mechanics are any better than any other car brand in SA?

They are all equally bad. there is also a tendency among these mechanics where they seldom work at the same dealership for longer than a year.
So your current BMW mechanic probably worked for Ford or Landrover last year. Quality workmanship is a thing of the past, regardless of what brand you follow.
Also - the V8 Mustang is a relatively low tech un stressed machine. Its actually easier to work on than a Focus ST, Kuga, Fiesta etc.. That V8 is sure to outlast the rest of the car.
.....BMWs on the other hand, seems to be plagued by all sorts of engine trouble ever since they started strapping turbos to them.

Initial perceived build quality is exactly that (the individual's perception). Only time will tell

Thats true hey, i got hijacked for my citi golf and then stopped buying golfs for like 10 years.

I think the M2 will be quite hot looking and unfortunately all hot cars attract the wrong attention.

For once I agree with you

Also, think about the amount of Luminas you see on the road. I'd say half of them you'll be seeing in the new Mustang

Also, I think the Mustang may end up turning more heads than the M2
