Hi guys

I ma having a look at a service history of a e46. What does the BMW Inspection I, BMW Inspection II mean?

Is it only an inspection or a service of some sort?

Its just different things that they check, Inspection II is the big checkup.

It goes:

oil service

inspection I

oil service

inspection II

and so on ;)

I just had inspection I done on my car, and it cost me R2200.

After the inspection do they now tell you what is wrong/needs replacing? then do the service?
what was done on your inspectionI

It was normal oil service and a few other things that were done, 2 hours labour for the inspection.

I put in a K&N filter, and a new cabin filter. Oh and that included the labour for fitting my strut brace while the car was there.

Somewhere in the handbook or service book it should list what gets done at the specific services..

Not too bad for R2200 you will pay that for almost any car you take for service at a dealer so do people always say it expensive to maintain a BMW?

I did not think that was bad at all. and only took the guy 1 day :)

no, it uses a chain, which doesnt need to be replaced

I am confused.. My old E30 had a timing chain, Got it replaced at 360 000Km.. My E36 states in the service book that it needs a cambelt change every 40K Km's..
