We need 5 Fanatics BMW's for the main display stand for the Fanatics, please.

The rest of the Fanatics will park amongst the other BMW's that will be there.

If you wanna be 1 of the 5 cars, you need to be at the event by latest 8am. I will be there at 7:30 setting up the banners for Fanatics and the club.

Whose keen? I can't put my car on cos it will be on the Club's display.

Any BMW that's in good condition qualifies for being on display.

The set up of club & fanatics display will have to be ready before 10am. Basically, we will park off about 4 fanatics Bmw's near the fanatics banners. Thats it. All other fanatics Bmw's will also park very close to the display. Just look out for the BmwFanatics banners.

The grand parade of bmw's around the track normally starts at 1pm then the cars on "display" will also join the parade. After that owners are free to do what they want...they can return to the same parkoff spot or participate in the open track event after the parade.

Event wasn't as good as previous years I must say....even with the drags and drifting.....there were some quality cars on show but nothing so new...besides that pastel grey m3 which was really different

that was the worst event i have been to since it started. It was good the first year and just got worse from there.

There were no quality exhibitions. Is that the best BMW ( auric ) could do three cars that weren't even theirs and a few overpriced goodies for sale?

don't think i will be going again !:nonono:

Just like most of the car shows in s.a. excepting perhaps the top gear festival. Most shows seem to be poorly advertised...and also very last minute..

I have been going to the BMW festivals for a few years and it was normally good. The BMW turnouts were normally huge with each generation parking in different areas of track. This year everyone was huddled in one section

I was seriously expecting more, to be honest. The day didn't seem to be very well organized and turnout was pretty shoddy - announcements were virtually non-existent, so you seldom knew what was happening when. And the schedule was merely a guideline - nothing happened on time, which was quite irritating.
I stuck around for the parade lap, which was horribly late and didn't even allow us to complete a lap of the full track. I then heard that there would be open drags from 4pm for BMW drivers. Both Grant and I were sent from pillar to post, trying to find registrations. Nobody seemed to know where to go - sent from main pit to drag strip to oval to caravan, back to main pit, then back to caravan. When we eventually got going around 4:30, we only had until 5:00 - 30 mins, really???
They really need to up their game if they want to continue with this event. The turnout is dwindling because of poor advertising, poor organizing and lack of event activities to keep folk coming through the gates. Was my first event and I was really expecting more...
*rant over*
PS: Organisers, please don't take this as endless whinging, but rather critical feedback to allow improvement next year. We all want this event to grow in leaps and bounds, and I'm more than happy to pitch in and help, where I can, to make this a success next year.

Thanks guys for your feedback, your points are valued and noted.
To those that came through, we thank you for your support.

While there were some that enjoyed themselves on the day, others didn’t and understandably so.

No excuses from me – I have to take the good together with the bad.

I have raised some concerns to Killarney about the manner in which track offerings and activities were handled on the day.

I think the main concern is venue availability with Killarney stopped from having any events on a Sunday due to the noise issue. So dates are selected and the BMW fest made to run in conjunction with another event, and this for the second year now proves to be a challenge.

From 2010, the best BMW Fests were 2011 & 2012, so I have asked the guys at Killarney that we keep the BMW Fest things the way it started ie BMWs in the new pits section. Streetcar open trackday on the full circuit, Parade Lap on the full circuit, and Drags in the afternoon. This is definitely possible but the interest and track participation should also be a fair amount from willing participants.

This was my email to them:

......The day started out well and carried on until the parade lap. The parade lap was once again greeted by anxious enthusiasts. The delay was not welcomed though so too was the shortened lap, as well as the iron fist of the clerk of the course. I do however apologise from my side about the misbehavement of some of the drivers on the track at the time of the parade lap.
A good number of BMWs arrived on the day but I did notice that plenty of previous visitors/faces and cars did not attend.
My suggestion going forward if this event were to remain on the calendar:
1. The initial BMW Festival (from 2010), ran a combination of an Open StreetCar Track Day in conjunction with the Festival, which proved to be a good pairing.
- Fans that have been supporting this event from the start had always had it in mind that track sessions would go hand in hand with every BMW Day, even though the Open Track Sessions were not only restricted to BMW Vehicles (all vehicles welcomed). This activity should remain as part of the days’ itinerary.

2. The addition of an afternoon drags session is also an attraction as there are different kinds of guys that like the different types of motorsports.

3. Registrations and briefings should all be done at a central point in order to curb confusion and frustration.

So I truly think that this simple formula should be the way forward for BMW Day, then guys will know what to expect and how to approach it every year.
Let me know your thoughts on this, and the way forward – Regards, Shiraz

I hope this request and suggestions are well received and that we can see improvement in next years’ event, with more activities from different parties & groups.

Since 2010 , I called the “Fests” to bring all BMW Lovers together for a day, whether a club, an institution or an individual. It is a challenge but i will continue trying

thank you for taking the constructive criticism in a very positive manner. Some times you need to embrace the good with the bad and take a step back and look at things objectively. I have to admit we need more participation from the entrants. you can advertise an event to the moon and back but it always does not guarantee everyone is keen..

I am a bmw enthusiast and will definately be at next years one. Hopefully the powers that be at killarney will take suggestions going forward.

good luck
