Thanks guys for your feedback, your points are valued and noted.
To those that came through, we thank you for your support.
While there were some that enjoyed themselves on the day, others didn’t and understandably so.
No excuses from me – I have to take the good together with the bad.
I have raised some concerns to Killarney about the manner in which track offerings and activities were handled on the day.
I think the main concern is venue availability with Killarney stopped from having any events on a Sunday due to the noise issue. So dates are selected and the BMW fest made to run in conjunction with another event, and this for the second year now proves to be a challenge.
From 2010, the best BMW Fests were 2011 & 2012, so I have asked the guys at Killarney that we keep the BMW Fest things the way it started ie BMWs in the new pits section. Streetcar open trackday on the full circuit, Parade Lap on the full circuit, and Drags in the afternoon. This is definitely possible but the interest and track participation should also be a fair amount from willing participants.
This was my email to them:
......The day started out well and carried on until the parade lap. The parade lap was once again greeted by anxious enthusiasts. The delay was not welcomed though so too was the shortened lap, as well as the iron fist of the clerk of the course. I do however apologise from my side about the misbehavement of some of the drivers on the track at the time of the parade lap.
A good number of BMWs arrived on the day but I did notice that plenty of previous visitors/faces and cars did not attend.
My suggestion going forward if this event were to remain on the calendar:
1.	The initial BMW Festival (from 2010), ran a combination of an Open StreetCar Track Day in conjunction with the Festival, which proved to be a good pairing.
-	Fans that have been supporting this event from the start had always had it in mind that track sessions would go hand in hand with every BMW Day, even though the Open Track Sessions were not only restricted to BMW Vehicles (all vehicles welcomed). This activity should remain as part of the days’ itinerary.
2.	The addition of an afternoon drags session is also an attraction as there are different kinds of guys that like the different types of motorsports.
3.	Registrations and briefings should all be done at a central point in order to curb confusion and frustration.
So I truly think that this simple formula should be the way forward for BMW Day, then guys will know what to expect and how to approach it every year.
Let me know your thoughts on this, and the way forward – Regards, Shiraz
I hope this request and suggestions are well received and that we can see improvement in next years’ event, with more activities from different parties & groups.
Since 2010 , I called the “Fests” to bring all BMW Lovers together for a day, whether a club, an institution or an individual. It is a challenge but i will continue trying
