Sounds like a cool idea, I like

In the areas that there might not be enough cars we could always use the runners up from some of the other regions....:dunno:

Mike, why only 12 cars...if you have 50 cars you can feature them all...because i assume you will use a company that does the latest lazer printing. Okay let me explain it this way.

A fanatic is more likely to buy the calender if a pic of his car is in the calender. My suggestion is this for the WC, which can be done in all provinces:

1. We make a list of all the fanatics that want to have their own cars featured in the western cape.
2. Lets say we end up with 50 cars.
3. We can then create 5 different calenders for the western cape that accomodate all 50 cars and about 5 extra cars.

4. The trick will be to get each fanatic that submits a picture of his car to BUY a calender...you can then calculate based on the number of confirmed cars and the 5 different calenders and the printing quote per calender how much each car/person has to pay to BUY a calender. I hope this is not confusing. Its actually a simple math exercise.

5. Lastly, you need to screen the pix. We cannot put in poorly taken pix. It needs to look classy in order for me to buy it and to look at the calender...so we may have to ask Mo and yourself to assist with finalising the pix.

Twinz it all boils down to two things.

Time and cost.

I do not want to have a calendar that is over-crowded with pictures taken from all angles, lighting and quality. It will make the calendar look busy and I was hoping for a cleaner more fresh and sophisticated look. The calendars need to reflect the same image that BMW and this forum have taken. Sharp, professional and unique. Imagine a BMW showroom with so many cars you can barely walk between them and then apply this thought to a calendar with 10 cars per month.... Its too busy.

Keep in mind that for every vehicle submitted I will need to have high resolution copies of the pictures emailed to me. I will need to edit, crop and enhance each picture to standardise the finish. That means editing 50 photos or more for every province...

This all takes time not to mention the complications when it comes to managing who's car is on which set of calendars per province and who to send what calendar too.

Cost is also a factor as with different print screens and different quantities the price of the calendars will be more.

I appreciate and understand that everyone wants to be featured on the calendar, however I dont see it being possible.

Think about the time involved to design this, doing 5 sets per province for example will mean 45 different calendar designs. Say every design takes me an hour to put together that is 45 hours of work required just to put the design through. 50 pictures per province and each photo takes 3 minutes to edit leaves me with means that it will take 2.5 hours per calendar just to process pictures! Nevermind that it will take at least 2 to 3 weeks before I will have the high resolution copies to begin working with... Factor in a month for submitting and voting and it will be too late.

Twinz this isnt plausible. We post pictures we like, we vote and through voting the best photos will be chosen. I put them into the calendars and each province gets a calendar with their chosen BMW's.

One car per month, 12 cars a year and one calendar design for each province. Thats all I can do.

I like the idea a lot, will definitely buy one.

I also think that if a region wants to, they could organise a photoshoot day and have one experienced person take the photos (and edit if they want). Keeps things neat. Only issue with this is that you lose the variety in backgrounds e.g. Table Mountain, sunset, one of the beaches, etc.

Alright everyone!

The regional calendar submissions have been setup and are ready for you to post your favourite picture of your BMW.

As per the rules in each thread:

Rules:

1. Only one photo may be submitted per fanatic.
2. Photo's posted must have an original minimum resolution of 1000x (in other words make sure you have the high resolution version available.
3. Provide a short blurb on your car. Make, model, year and the cars name as well as mods. If you wish you can include something interesting for us to include in the Calendar.
4. Please refrain from spamming and commenting on submitted pictures.
5. Please only post pictures relevant to your region. If you are in the Western Cape do not post your pic in the Gauteng thread!

Submissions will be closed on the 26th October.

I will then create polls for each region with the pictures listed and each fanatic will receive one vote.

I will update everyone once we get to this point, for now I look forward to seeing everyones pictures!
