BMW E90 Radio/Bluetooth/CD issues

Hi Good People

My details: BMW 325i 2007 E90 Auto

Factory fitted BMW Professional Audio Sytem

Every minute or so, the audio system haults/jumps/skips, whilst playing CDs, Radio and AUX.

The Bluetooth Telephone icon on the menu screen shows 2 dashes (--) instead of the phone icon. So I cannot connect, the shuttle also flickers the 2 dashes and things its load even though there are no disks in there nor the loading deck.

Please help and hope i am conveying the message on the write forum.

generally speaking when the two dashes display instead of the phone icon it means the MULF unit in your boot is toast.As a test,can you unplug your MULF unit in the boot and test if your radio still does it?bearing in mind when you disconnect the mulf unit your CDC (cd changer) will stop working too as it runs through a closed loop on the MULF at the MOST bridge.

anyway disconnect the MULF unit,test and post results

I have the same issue.

I disconnect the Mulf in the boot so that it does not affect the radio, CD player or AUX.

Thanks for the response bud, but I am not DYI guy and don't know what a MULF is, tried to Google it but wouldn't know how to disconnect it.

Would you be able to help out with DYI links or pics?

Remove your boot centre mat and you will find a silver unit quite close to the centre of the back seat.

It has a large white connector at the top and smaller black cable a the bottom. I disconnected the large white plug to get the everything else working properly.

If your car is pre LCI model you will be able to source a used MULF from a scrapyard and it will work no problem,if its LCI model then different story and you will need to purchase new from BMW....wait for it.... R8k

yeah thats the price i got from Ballito Autohaus about a month ago.Anyway you are lucky so you will be able to source a replacement from a scrapyard.If you do find one,take down the part number and punch it into realoem.com to make sure its compatible with your car.A mulf unit from a 320d wont be compatible with your 325i for example.

I tried and removed the white larger cable and there is no sound out the speakers. Then I switched off the radio hon and off hoping to get some sound and nothing.

When plugged back in the sound is amplified but still halts/skips etc.

Would you guys suggest anything else?

it's your Bluetooth control unit gone poof probably.. happened to me while I was on plan (luckily) read here at the end. BM replaced my entire Bluetooth unit: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=33232

Out of idea's on this one.

I had a look at mine now and its is the large connector that must be removed. Mine works just fine.

You may need to look at a scrap yard for a new unit.
