Hi guys
So after 5 years of not having an M car, my last being a e36 m3 (SA Spec) I decided to buy a 2005 Bmw M5 Smg in Interlagos blue in February 2016.
I got the car in Feb 2016 and it broke down on day 1 and dealer took no responsibility but that is a story for another day and it is running now.
94 500kms on the clock as it stands and it is stock standard. I have a file with every service since date of first delivery and every service since then until now. The file has all documentation even last wheel alignment details etc.
I have taken a few pics, really not the best pics but just decided it was time to post will take better ones soon. The car is only driven on the weekend. I have not even put it in S6 and I feel like there is not enough road for this car.
Here is one next to my dads beast, the X6M
The car is a work in progress currently. In need of a detail and PDC sensors are not working so will sort that out. All other electronics are currently working (touch wood). Driver bolster not worn and still in decent shape and minimal sand blasting on the headlights.
I love this car, it is a utter beast. it absolutely pulls like a steam train after 5500rpm or so. The SOUND, I think we all know.
I have purchased a after market warranty for two years that cost around R17k so little peace of mind though only in percentages lol.
Car has been serviced once again since bearings have been done so fresh oil and filters in it are also two weeks old. The bearing job that was done by Tune Tech has a 12 month warranty so some peace of mind there too.
I'm am amazed at the technology in this 2005 vehicle and very impressed.
The SMG gearbox is nowhere near as good as the DCTs but I tell you it is fun once you get used to it. I do lift off the throttle slightly when changing gears and it does smooth out the changes.
Currently Done:
New Good year tires on the rear
New discs and pads rear
New smg pump that is two weeks old (2 year BMW warranty)
Big end bearings done 2000km back with Tune tech
New Control arm bushes front
New SMG Gearbox under car cover
To Do
Diff seal
Power steering sweat
Get a mobility kit (may take from the F21)
PDC Sensor
Apologies if this post is all over the place an M5 creates a lot of excitement.
