Proof in the pudding...this place is chock-full of opinions and thats about it, we know what they say about opinions...
Most of the technical questions on here go unanswered but if you want your gumtree to have a comments section then it's the place to be. Sorry OP for knowing where you can get real answers on your m3 project, as expected this lot know better...
:bin

Not only do you lack tact and diplomacy but you are equally a miserable sod.

I should hate to know people such as you.
Be that as it may consider my observations as a statement of fact rather than an opinion.
If you guys put as much time into helping out as you do into ego stroking then it would be a better place.... My advice to the OP was to speak to those who have done it vs those who frown upon it. Let the OP make the decision shall we?

Hi guys

I need some help or more some advice, I have acquired a e46 m3 manual with a bearing knocked engine

I was thinking about doing a 2Jz transplant, but I still want to keep the vehicle as original as possible, and want all the electronics and aircon etc to function

My biggest hurdle is the wiring I have come across wiring specialties, they offer the engine harness for a e46/2Jz, although shipping this harness is costly

What do you guys think?

I want the vehicle to be a daily driver I don’t want to play around with the 2Jz engine either, want it done properly and reliable, so I’m trying to do as much homework as I can before

So your best option would be to keep the stock management and wiring in place and then add an aftermarket management for the running of the engine, that way you keep all your stock functions without hampering the running of the engine indipendently.

Just something to note, whatever you plan on spending double that to get it done properly and reliabily.

If the engine hasn't thrown a rod out the block I would suggest finding a new crank, some forged pistons and new bearings and running a low boost setup on the S54.

Thanks Bro, only problem will be getting the engine to communicate with the management, any ideas? Remember the 2JZ wiring will be completely different of that of the s54

You can also reach out to the guys at Old Dutch Racing in Durban, they have done many 2JZ builds in the E46 M3 shell

Hi.

Why not go to TuneTech or SavSpeed and get a professional opinion on the motor first!

Otherwise what u doing with the old motor?

Please don't get anymore technical than this. @bman might get a bone

I did mine on my own. E46 m3 body with 1j non vvt on a 6 speed bmw box. Running powermods management with canbus module. Cluster working 100% made shift lights with the warm up lights. Made my own mounts. Still need to sort the AC. Rebuild the diff with new bearings and clutches, also added subframe support. Used the bmw steering rack on a 330d pump

Used the standard back box on the car but that didnt work choked the car a bit so we build some new back boxes

Clutch was slipping so we replaced the plate with a 6 puk button.

Car is salso build for daily use and not a drag car
