I've gat a2003 BMW 318i with standard headlights. All they do is tilt up or down.can I replace the old globes with these high performance globes from phillips? Something like the blue vision ultra or x-treme vision. And what size like the H1,H3,H4,HB3 or HB4 as I'm not very clued up about these globes.

I do not have any experience with the Philips, but I know the Osram Nightbreakers are awesome.

Also, if you have the facelift, both the brights and dims should be H7. Easiest way to check is remove bulbs or read the manual (but who does that anyway :mmm: :) )

I got Osram night breakers in & they are awesome.

i was looking for the Philips Extreme bulbs but could not find them, Just make sure to get 55w & NOT 100w as they will be hotter

Maybe you knocked out the little connector on the motor when you put your bulbs in. Just check that everything is secure.

Also, have someone turn the adjuster in the car while you listen to the motor. If the motor is still working (but not moving up and down), then the internal adjuster inside the headlamp could be broken or out of place. I'm sure Sankekur can advise a bit better on this, as by now, he should be able to work on these headlights while blindfolded :)

Lol :)

Like msm said, its most likely that the motor is not properly connected. If you can hear the motor when you adjust the headlights but they are not moving it might be that something inside the headlight is not right. Anyhow if you need help sorting it out you can give me a shout I'd be happy to try and help you.

Mine does this sometimes, just the left one.. On sat night it did it.. drove home with 1 light pointing down. got home & unplugged it & fiddled a bit then unplugged the right one & then cleaned the contacts & it worked after that.. it had done it once before..

Maybe the motor is on its way out, when I got my car one of the adjusters was broken. Why these things go I have no idea, would probably be a good idea to actually open one up and see what is wrong and if it can be fixed, but I am kinda lazy :)

Nightbreakers are good in terms of light output than the oem stuff but they do not last long, especially the low beams. I am on my second set (Low beams). I have not changed the high beams yet since i replaced them.
