Hi guys

Ive got a bmw 318ti e46 with a N42 motor. Ive had the motor overhauled but now it doesnt want to start. Had diagnostics done and the ews error comes up. Does anyone have clarity on this error and how to go about sorting it out. The car turns over fine but it seems that there is no spark. Any help will be appreciated.
thanx

I'm going to assume that that is ews2 or ews3.....

Usually if it's ews related it wouldn't swing over. As far as I know, ews disables the starter as well as the ignition. I could be wrong....but that's the logic behind it. Have you checked all the other sensors.
Are they correctly plugged in?
Is the battery strong enough?
I had a weak battery issue with my e36 and it came up with a dme fault. (Admittedly dme power error), but it's worth looking at.

Top Tip with E46's. Check the ground connections to your DME. That short little wire going from the 9 pin connector to the body has made many a grown man cry.

So the car cranks but doesn't start? Is your temperature gauge hitting max when you turn on ignition?
