So yea the car is oldish, only a 2001 model, but im having heavy problems since the start of this year and no garage wants to help me, intermittent problems, lamda sensor, mapping sensor, oxygen sensor, radiator bottle level sensor, list can probably go on, car is very very very heavy on fuel, get about 350km on a full tank. car floods on start most of the time. i have had it at a few guys, everyone just puts their machines on then says sensors are faulty, but i've replaced one and nothing changed, then they got scared, all everyone can say is go to BMW,( the market value is like 45k no way that's going be worth it) im pretty sure there is a electrical fault somewhere. i tested the Reed switch on the water level sensor and its fine. also the idling is off, when you give it gas it feels like there is a loss in power, but then some days its absolutely fine. if a sensor is broken its broken right? has anyone had these kind of problems? can maybe suggest anyone to take it too? i am a technician so dont mind fiddling, but have no idea where to start. hope someone out there can help me, :argh:

confusing codes like thAt could be a vacuum leak.

have you tried un coupling the air flow meter?

my car also has a occasional lag in power delivery, i disconnected the air flow meter and it drives a lot better

From my experience, cam sensor could be an issue.

see that's my problem, everyone saying this sensor that sensor, no one willing to replace it, because just maybe its not that, like i said, everything on the car is intermittent, on day the car is 100% next its shaky when pulling away, flooding, not idling correct, this is my 3rd bmw, starting to hate bmw, this car cost me double what its worth.

It could happen to any car. It's man made and can break. Pretty certain that the previous 2 weren't this hair pulling otherwise you wouldn't be on number 3. Hang in there. You will get to the underlying cause.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a bit? Also, has anyone that read the codes attempted to clear the errors?

cleared the errors about 6 times now. can try disconnecting the battery, will do it in a few min... i grew up with bwm, i will probably have less problems if i buy a newer one heheh, was thinking of the 525i 2004 model.

how long should i keep it disconnected?

10 minutes is more than enough. I picked up issues with other sensors in my car before (adaptive headlights, abs, srs, etc) all at one go and a battery reset helped.

Hope it assists you. Also, have you attempted to clean the MAF sensor as yet?

ive cleaned so many things LOL ive stripped out all the sensors i could find after i replaced the lamda sensor. bmw got so many sensors, lamda cost me just over R2500 and all the guy could do after nothing changed was lift up his shoulders and say go to BMW, Worcester BMW i know wont know anything, i actually had to go in and show them where the sensor is cuz they dont know what it is, and they actually had a argument with me that my car do not have LED mid brake lights. their prices is almost double most otherbmw garages. really really poor service, will never take my car there. and to drive my car too cape town on the moment will cost me around R700. eats fuel like i eat on a spur eat as much as you can rib night

okey, i did the battery thing, will have to check over a few days, like i said its intermittent. but so far, started good, none of the flooding like always. idle was still a lil rough but car is cold so understandable. will test and get back. radiator still not working right tho. so that fault i will still have to find, any idea if it should be NO or NC? i checked my MAF sensor, looks diff than the ones ive seen on youtube. looks like a zenor diode, is sparkling clean, lol

will go drive around after work, so will get back in about 6hours.

:ty: so far :) BTW if you know about anyone having problems with the window lifters on the BMW e46, i have a mod 2 fix them so that they will NEVER break again :) and only cost a lil work.

Well its running okey, drove around a lil, first 2km the idle was perfect, no shuttering, then the idle went a lil off but still better than before, definitly no flooding that i can see. hope it stays this way, water tank sensor still not working, do you know if that sensor should be NO or NC? its a reed switch.this one is NO then when bring a magnet close it goes CC. :praise:
