Hi There, Where can I get BMW badges for my car. They are very expensive at SMG. I also recently took my car to have the bushes replaced because I have a knocking sound when changing gears. I was told it was done but my diff bushes now needs to be replaced. What does this mean. Can anyone enlighten a woman in the dark please. What would this cost? Where can I have my car checked out that wont cost me an arm and a leg

Bmw badges can be bought from the dealerships. They may be slightly expensive, but you can be guaranteed of the quality, won't break or fade in the sun.

Sorry about hearing about your dealership experience...

Now, did the bushes reduce the noise? If not, I would take it up with the dealership, as they replaced an item not being the cause of the problem!! (Typical stealerships!!!)

The diff bush is basically a piece of rubber that is sandwiched between the diff and the cars body. It may be the cause of the problem. I would tell them that if they change it, and the noise is still there, they can put your old ones back...
That should make them think whether they have diagnosed properly!!

Good luck

Get the Propshaft Coupling checked/replaced, this probably causing the "klunk" on gear change, and is the least costly of the repairs i would say in terms of eliminating the problem...

BMW Badges,

Maybe check at MD House in Wynberg... they are 250 Each

You can go there and get ripped off.

Just get an aftermarket badge. Brilliant Mechanical Workshop is next door and they have aftermarket badges.

The knocking sound is it also on hard acceleration and deceleration? If so I would think its the diff bush.

Where are you based this will help the guys recommend some one for you to go to. I wouldn't take a car out of plan to a dealership.

My car has original badges and the bonnet one is badly faded. So I doubt that the agents sell stuff that lasts forever also. Check in the marketplace Tasneem on this forum. You will find guys who sell the badges. If you have the time to browse the forum you will learn well of how to go about with the repairs on your car and prevent being ripped off. Dealerships just change parts and charge exorbitant rates for problems that don't exist. We also need to know which area you are in to point you to the right place. SMG is in cpt i think but i also think there is another one here in jhb.
