bmw e36 vanos problem

Good day all my fellow bmw lovers

Maybe someone here can assist me. Bmw e36 323i 1996 double vanos.

Over the weekend I realised something strange. When i start the car i could barely hear the vanos(engine). When i revved it you can hear that beautiful bmw sound from the exhaust and you barely hear the engine(vanos) also when I revv it it sounds like tere is a slight delay in the revs, bu the engine is quite when revving & the exhaust sound is very loud..(like all bmw's should sound like)

Switch it off and start again then you don't hear that beautiful exhaust sound anymore.. all you hear is the vanos(engine rumbling). I know everyone says it sounds like marbles I a can.

This does not sound normal. Ive heard many 6cylinder e36 bmw's and you barely hear the engine(vanos).

Since ive bought the car the change only happened like 3 or 4 times.

When this happens again I'll take a video & post it. I haven't driven it like that so i dont know if the performance is different..

Someone PLEASE HELP!!

It is difficult to explain

if its Vanos the torque will be low below 3000 and it will feel like nothing happens til you in the upper rev range

the noise could be a number of things by your description

Okay so maybe It's not the vanos.

Whenever it changes again I'll shoot a video, start it a few times then it changes back to vanos noise.

Can it be the computer? Altough I did a diagnostic by bmw when i bought it.

The previous owner didnt do much maintenance.

Should i be concerned about this
