I didn't say anything about a lexus motor, I asked why the specific choice of m62tu.....reason for me asking regarding this very specific choice is that the m62 (moreso the tu) has a couple of things that make it undesirable in terms of BMW V8's
-It has weaker timing gear. This takes the form of a single timing chain and the plastic V tensioner. That said seeing as you had the motor out of the car I am sure you replaced this as the motor is already so close to 200k km.
-The water cooled alternator.
-VANOS
-The restricted runners on the intake manifold
-The lower lift and duration cams.
All these guides chains and water cooled alternator have all been replaced already. My choice for the tu is simply for the agressive cams that go into the m62 b46. Those cams are only suited to vanos application. As i stated in the other posts of the items i have and am still building and the whole lexus story is there too.

Any changes to the intake manifold planned?

Do you have any pics from when you changed the guides and chains?

Great stuff,all you need to do now is stroke it with the 4.6 crank or S62 Crank and fit M60 Intake.

For now it will be stock. Dont have pics of the guides n chain replacement

such an awesome build,
congrats, can see a lot of effort when into this,

i love the m62, pulled so strong and torquey in my e39 540i/6, can only imigine it in a light e36.... madness, so much low down and midrange power, and top end i guess to haha

also love the colour, i also have a thing for bmws in space grey,

am looking forward to seeing your e46 version, that really excites me, love the engines..
