Bmw e36 316i M40B16 coolant temp sensor location

Hi there, I’ve been looking around and can’t seem to find anything. I have a e36 316i which had the M40 engine which im assuming the car is 92-94 model.

My heat guage is always in between the blue and red(half way) it does it the moment i turn the ignition on and not start it. i want to replace the coolant temperature sensor which I believe is under the intake manifold. my dilemma is I see there is two similar looking sensors and don’t know which is which. Ive checked various Manuels and still seem reluctant to find anything.

If anyone could give me some advice I would appreciate it a lot!

I know on my E46 325i it was right at the back of the cylinder head, and the mechanic managed to get to it by removing the cover around the computer box, and the aircon filter, and the airbox and pipes, but left the intake manifold in place.
