BMW E34 Interior Blower Motor Replacement

Has anyone here ever replaced the blower motor on an e34 with the M50 engine that can tell me how they managed to get the fan out and back in again.

The engine harness is in the way.
I can move it but not enough so i need to know the best way to maneuver the fan out of there.

I did see a write up of a guy getting the fan out but it has pictures and no clear instructions on how to manipulate the fan.

Howzit @Ricky318i

Thanks for the response, appreciate it.

Those instructions won't work for me though.

The e34's with the M50 engine has the engine harness in the way.
If the harness wasn't there i could get it in easily enough but i have seen write ups where people manage to get the fan in and out with the harness still connected.
I just don't know how they maneuvered the fan.

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling.
I don't have anything else to check except the Bentley manual.

I'll see.

Also, have you checked all the youtube videos for the E34 and E32?

The Bentley manual has the following picture for the M50:

I wish i could move my harness that far out the way.
Perhaps someone that worked on the car previously didn't put the harness back on correctly but there is no way i can move it that far.

In case anyone with an e34 and the M50 engine ever needs to replace their blower motor, i managed to get the fan in with the harness in the way.

You need to force it a bit, the cages will bend slightly without breaking.
I did this with a second hand fan from a e32 7 series so the cages were old and were still able to bend without cracking.

I started from the passenger side as that is where the harness can move the furthest from the firewall, got 1 cage in and then maneuvered the fan in a way that i could orient it to get the other side into the same gap.

Pretty much no space to do anything and looking at it makes it seem impossible but once i started and got the first cage in i realized its not that bad.

Wish i had taken photos of exactly how i got it in but i just wanted it done.
