From what I have seen yes, but that is usually the bigger ones at kyalami, can't remember about the zwartkops ones. Usually some BMW and BMW club stuff, but I wouldn't waste my money, 3k for a blazer, I mean really.

Cool, hope they have BMW jackets/Tshirts, i have been looking for those for a while now at a good price. Flea markets i have been to sell them at ridiculous prices and terrible quality!

There is a very good reason to attend and it has nothing to do with the BMW car club so I will be there :fencelook:

I got up early on Saturday and went for this thing at Zwartkops. I was invited by Club Motors, only to go there and find its a free for all.

I had to stand in a queue in the 30 degree sun for about an hour just to register. The queue for "hot laps" around the course in a 320i/330i was about a mile long, and once again, you had to stand in the blazing sun to go around the track for 2 laps.

I attended a dynamic driving course/defensive driving for about an hour, checked out the new 1 series and then left.

I think it was poorly organised and a total waste of my time. BMW did not have any kind of exclusive promotions/shows/displays at the show, so basically, unless you got there early enough to get in line to hot lap it around the circuit, as far as i am concerned, it was a waste of time and effort.

have to agree, was told it was for club motors clients only, organised for sank and legacy to get registered, went for a bite to eat then joined the line for the hot lap, found out later it was for everybody.

what upset me was we stand in the queue for nearly an hour just to find people were jumping the queue

I dont understand what the point of them having sent me an email with my name on it, and asking me to print it out and bring it along with me for registration, if any tom/dick or harry off the street could just walk in, skip the line for registration, and skip into the line for hot laps and go home.

What was the point exactly?

There was really not much to see, except for all the privately owned race cars taking off onto the track and the new F20 which I had not seen in the flesh till Saturday. Other than that, there was nothing to justify me waking up early and driving the 30kms there to stand in the sun.

They didnt give out any freebies, lanyards, key rings, stickers, license disc holders, nothing except millions of brochures.

They had a side stall with merchandise on sale, but I couldnt buy anything as I didnt take along my Vaseline.

Of course you get a few idiots who will pay R300 for a White BMW peak hat. And the oke that doesnt even know what the M on a M badge car, walk in and pay R2k for an M wallet.

There were no pretty BMW girls, just guys in white BMW golfers with badges.

This is in stark contrast to the BMW SA 5 sereis lauch at Kyalami a year ago, which was all bells and whistles included. A nice flash drive, with all promo material on it, and a chance to drive any of the BMW line-up around Kyalami on the open roads, as well as driving a selection of newly launched 5 series models around the track by yourself.

It was exclusive, they greeted me by name when I arrived and had a name tag printed for me.

I was left dissapointed this weekend. BMW SA needs to get a handle on these kind of events.

If its free for all, then all us BMW drivers wont attend, we already drive BMWs, I am not going to stand in a line of Opel and VW drivers who are dying to go around the track in "a BMW, a BMW dude".

For the BMW drivers, organise us a nice dignified exclusive event where we can be driven around in, or drive around ourself a new M5 or something like that.

You leave the people who aspire to a BMW, with a nice experience. and you leave those who already drive a BMW, with a desire to stay with the brand and a nice experience.
You dont put potential customers and existing customers together and treat them the same. If theres one way to throw away and disenfranchise clients, its to treat all customers old and potentials as the same person, when in fact WE ARE ALL NOT THE SAME.

SO we DONT EXPECT TO BE TREATED THE SAME.

Did you hear me Club Motors and BMW SA? Did you read my POST?

Now Catch a wake up China!!

As far as I know it was just a normal BMW car club event with more dealer stuff around. Seems like it was a good thing I didn't buy my BMW through BMW so no personal invite and no expectations so I didn't get there just to be disappointed. It was pretty much on par with these normal events just more people.

I couldnt agree with you more, the show was not entertaining at all except for the Savspeed BMW which i enjoyed, other than that it was a waste. The BMW mechandise was a total rip off, i didnt buy anything, im trusting the chinese to make cheaper alternatives or if BMW can be abit more reasonable with thier price.

Was this an official BMW event??? Any1 know??

It was just a normal track day that was had more of a BMW dealer presence.

And lol at all the BMW snobbery  want special treatment from BMW? Buy a brand new BMW, that should get you some special treatment, until you leave the dealer.

You would think the marketing guys know better by now. In this day and age you really need to pull all the stops for people to spend there hard earned cash.

At first I was upset that I missed this one. Drove to Lenz to fetch a gearbox for the 635. Now I'm glad I didn't go. Would have been nice to meet more guys from this forum. If I went
