I've done 16 000m with the car and I 've changed the oil once. If you are talking about dealer services intervals does it mean it is spaced to far apart?

Hectic, if I had to change oil every 16 000m, i would have to stop halfway to the office for a change :roflol::roflol:

Yes dealer service intervals are too long.

Yup. Older cars were always serviced around every 15k km. The newer ones however go up to 35k km without services.

Now I dunno about you, but I personally feel our fuels/oils are not up to Euro standards. 15k km max and I service my car.

And dealers are known for skipping out on filter changes, especially air filters and fuel filters. Some cars under motorplan never get a new fuel filter at the dealers when being serviced and I think that's disgusting. It's looking for trouble.

Also, you book your car in for a service and that's all they do - a service. Nevermind the oil leak that can clearly be seen by the guy doing the service. The car wasn't booked in for an oil leak, therefore not part of their checklist, therefore it gets ignored until you book it in yourself for an oil leak.

I agree, dealer intervals are too long...I do an inbetween oil service and the normal service on MP when the service light comes on...For me 25K is too long...
2 turbos = twice the wear of the oil plus the car just feels better with renewed oil..

Oil change every 10k for me
Brilliant mechanical are very good and not badly priced at all.

Can't compare merc service to a bmw. The price is far apart.

Have a look at a dealer serviced ///M cars internals and you will, without fail, find oil sludge and buildup. This sludge builds up over time because the fluids spec'ed by BMW are not designed for such extreme timings between changes. Simple minor service maintenance is simple to do and should be done much more regularly than indicated...

SO what is the verdict here? We just serviced my wifes Mercedes in motorplan and we had to pay 50%. It was a minor service and we had to pay R2500. Tat is R5000 for a minor service. If BMW is the same I would prefer to go to a aftermarket.
In the past I had a real bad experience with a forum sponsor. Can somebody that has used the garage 808 please give me some feedback. I don't want to all into the same trap. This is the first service out of motorplan.

I took my car in to Brilliant Mechanical Workshop on Friday for a minor service.

Cost me R1 100 for a minor service of which the majority was the 7L of oil that went into the car.

The car is back now for an intake vanos and timing chain tensioner replacement. All covered by my third party warranty and I'm having no issues with them.

They strictly work on BMWs as well which was comforting for me. They're in Claremont opposite Kenilworth Center.

So far - 10/10 would recommend

Please send me the details
