Was there not a 730i with the 3 litre M60 , same motor as the e34 530i , early e32 model ?

Yes, but we never got those in SA.
We only got the 740i with the M60B40, M62B44 and M62TUB44 and then the 735i with the M62TUB35 later on.

Yes we most certainly did get the E32 730 with the V8, I owned one :rollsmile:

Just saw you meant E38, did we get the V8 diesel E38 here?

AFAIK no e38 diesels were sold here .

so its 530 or 330... 330 might be worn.....like when i bought my 200is.... i knew it was treked thru its gat.... but 7 years later and 402800km...she still kapping aaaan

i guess its all down to how to manage the engine.......

That's why you need to go do propper car shopping. Don't rush it. Jy sal n 330i kry wat nie verkrag is nie. (You'll find a 330i that hasn't been raped)

In fact I found an old shabby 2001 330i for under R60k. It was quite a mess. But when I got in and turned the key, that straight 6 purred alive without a puff of smoke and she still pulled like a train. It was an ugly duckling with lots of kick, that wanted to be loved back to beauty.

Don't settle on the first one you find. I know it's hard, but you'll know when you've found the one. And it's going to be a great feeling! :joy:
