Hi Guys need some urgent help, I have a 2013 330d f30, the car started overheating so I had it towed to bmw, they than did diagnostic and told me the oil filter housing is leaking coolest and needs to be replaced, costed me close to 16k but I went ahead and got them to do it, after picking up the car I noticed it was lacking power so went back to them, I have now been informed that the intake manifold actuator is stuck due to carbon build up and I need to replace the intake manifold. I cannot understand how this was not picked up and my car was released to me because the manifold was removed to do the oil filter housing. Would really appreciate if anyone can assist and give me your opinion on what I should do. Also if someone has had this issue and got it somehow sorted please advice me on what I should do.

Thanks

Hi,

Is it stuck permanently or intermittently?

Common issue in these cars, which is why we disable the flaps when mapping these cars.

From what they are telling me it’s stuck due to carbon build up and the intake manifold need to be changed

Take the inlet manifold off and remove the swirl flaps. On my 2012 F30 2l diesel it had a sort of gasket with the flaps integrated into that which made it easy to remove the flaps by grinding off the shaft and removing the flaps. On my old F25 3l diesel the flaps were slightly different meaning i had to remove the shaft for the flaps and then the flaps could be removed. It is not a difficult job on the 2l N47 motor but slightly more difficult on the 3l diesel B57 motor. Still not too difficult. Also clean out the manifold as best you can at the same time. Just Google the process on Youtube.
