Hi guys

I'm thinking of buying a BMW 325i coupe the e92, and i was wondering what you guys do on a full tank? and what kind of consumption you guys get with a relatively heavy foot?

I'm considering buying an Audi S3 because its only a 2.0T and its quick! But i don't know if i will be able to afford the petrol on the BMW! :(

Thanks guys

Howzit. I get about 480kms in urban driving and can get to the north coast in KZN easily on a full tank (from Jhb). Not great in urban driving ... a little on the heavy side.

What makes you think the Audi is going to be more economical than the BMW? Heavy foot = higher fuel consumption, reality you can't really escape.

With the BMW, you can have consumption figures of between 10 and 12 l/100 km on average for mixed driving conditions, but you can go above or for that matter below these figures depending on that right foot!!

Correct answer right there

You're right Breezie definetly on the thirsty side in a urban setting get about the same. On the open road get between 9 - 10l/100km.

A smaller, turbo charged engine driven gently will potentially give better fuel economy, but as soon as you push it hard, it will drink far more than a slightly bigger NA engine such as the one in the 325i.

The power delivery of the s3 is such that its pretty dead below 4000rpm, and if you like boost, you'll find the power quite addictive. It will definitely feel (and be) a lot faster than the 325i, but the engine sounds lame, and I reckon will be heavier on fuel. Its also quattro.

I can't stand the S3 because I think the engine throttle response and power delivery is terrible and very typical of high output 2L turbo. I hate it, but this is just my opinion. The 325i will sound better, have much smoother power delivery, probably be more efficient, but it will also feel a lot more sedate when driven hard. I also agree that an M-sport E92 is an extremely good looking car.

I think you should make the e90 330d an option if you're looking for a combination of speed and economy. Im sure that will even feel faster than an S3 due to all the torque, that's where my money would go.

A few wise members once told me if you looking for a fast performance car dont ask about consumption..... they dont go together. well.... unless its a diesel:rollsmile:

+1

On open road at 140kph, my E90 325i was using less fuel than my friend's Golf 5 GTi (2l Turbo). It also sounded much better....:praise:
