BMW 320i E46 2004 Model will not start

Hi BMW Experts there

Please help me out.

This Morning my BMW 320i E46 2004 Model will not start---
what happened---I tried to open the Boot with the Imobiliser and the ALarm went OFF,for about a minute and evertything went dead.

I am able to open the car manually.all dash lights are off and the car will not start.

The light that usually flashes on top of the mirrow is OFF as well.

Any ideas what could be broken???

Thanks a lot for your response guys.
I am not clued up with Cars,so before I go and touch anything I need to be sure.

One on my friends said to me that you just do not replace the battery on a BMW 320i E46

He said something about the Computer BOX that will need resetting.

how true is this ?

Tell your friend he is a dimwit :) you will most likely have to re-enter the radio security pin, but that should be the extent of it.

Jumping will probably not work either. Rater put the battery on charge and retry.

No need for the resetting. :slap:

Hi Guys

Thanks a lot for the advice.it was definitly a batter.
I woke up this morning and used some jumpers cable and managed to start the car.

Thanks a lot for the advice :excited:

I was worried it might be something big!!!

Good Morning once more

I have been looking at the prices for a Battery. Its going for R1800-00,is this reasonable???
I drive a polo 1.6 as well and have bought a bigger battery for less than a thousand rand.

Do you guys know where I can get the BMW 320i Battery at a price less than R1800-00,as you know resetion is still a reality.

Thanks in advance

Hi there BROER, also check if you battery has enough water, if not go to nearest battery point and get some help or even a petrol station for top up. (NOTE DO NOT FILL WITH TAP WATER).

Its a sealed unit bheki.

OP, try a willards or SABAT outlet, they should be able to assist you with a much cheaper replacement.

Yeah Sabat is quite cheap and very good quality. Otherwise pm Rick (on the forum) and ask what to get and what not to get.

He knows everything about batteries!:)
