BMW 320i 2007

Hi Jaco,

I was also looking at a 2007 320i few months ago because that is what I could afford. Yes, it is not the fastest car but appreciate the car for what it is. Its got enough grunt at lower revs to get you going, especially upgrading from a small car. Yes the sixers are much better, but take baby steps.

The reason why i did not buy one; is because of the fuel consumption. Not the most economical car around...

I'm not sure about the services close to the 100k mark.... seeing that the car has 95000km, that means you have 5000km till motorplan expires right? Why don't you take the car to BMW and have them check it out and have them replace whatever may 'break' post 100 000km mark?

Reason I say this is that I see that other fanatics here get this done before motorplan expires....

So can any other fanatics confirm this for me?

Thanks again for your information and feedback. Guess I will do that then. But will BMW do this? And will I have to pay anything in? I mean will they really replace stuff that may "break" in the near future?

And thanks Jacques. Yeah I know it will be heavy on fuel, but I can live with that

I drove a 2007 320i...no problems up until 140 000kms when I sold it...Driving a 2011 320i as insurance would really kill me if I went for a bigger engine..

1stly check when the motorplan is expiring on the said vehicle you want to purchase...If you're buying it from a BMW dealership, see if they can't extend it for a year at their cost...

As was pointed out by the guys on the forum..let BMW take a look at the car and do a full check on the car...depends where you're situated, some guys can point you in the direction of a dealership with a good service record.

Only problem I can think off is the centre bearing and a pulley that would need replacement, my gearbox gave problems from 130 000km's, but that was overhauled at their costs and no problems from there onwards..(Motorplan)...

Good luck with the buy dude...

You'll love your BMW. Everyone loves their first.:inlove:

As for the bigger engine. The only reason you keep hearing go bigger is because so many here have an M model or a 35i. I am sure everyone would love one of those, but for the guys that do 40000km a year, economy is a big factor. That is why I would recommend the 320d, but the 320i is a good buy if you like petrol and you will not be disappointed. Make sure you get BMW to show you the errors they pic up on the diagnostic. That way you can ensure they fix it all before the motor-plan expires.

Forgot to add..my consumption sitting at 7.9l/100km's...just ask for a software update as well.. Don't think that's too bad for a 2.0l.. :=):

the 320i isnt a bad car at all, alot of people on this forum think that everyone wants 6 cylinder sounds and power, which isnt true. you dont need a 2.5l engine, the 2.0l is truely enough. i have my car for over 30000kms so far and it has been nothing but brilliant, i am annoyed at a bit of limited power cause of its weight, but hey, thats me...but if my itch for 'want; doesnt scratch, i can see myself driving my 320i Individual into the ground or more over a very, very long time!

bang for buck, you will almost never get a car that comes that close to what the BMW comes with as std.

Thanks for all the info and advice :ty:

The motor plan expires 25 March 2012. Unfortunately it's not from BMW directly, so won't be able to extend the motor plan. But I'm waiting for my fiance to get approved, will have a answer today. So if it gets approved, I'll take the car as soon as possible to BMW to let them check everything out.

I'm in Kempton Park...so the closest dealer that I know about is the Autobahn one...but I'll be willing to drive a bit further to get better service.

Get the last 7 digits of the VIN and then get to a dealership to ask about the car's history before signing papers dude..safe option IMO..

Still waiting on my finance :nonono: Ridiculous how they're taking so long, been a full day now...isn't it supposed to take just like half a day normally?

But anyways..getting anxious about it, hope everything goes well :bangdesk:

Edit: So much for the hoping and praying. No luck, finance was declined. Thanks everyone for the info and replies anyways
